What is a PAN Card
As we all know that PAN card is an identity proof issued by the Income Tax Department. Along with your photograph, the PAN card also includes the following 5 basic information. for example,
- Candidates Name
- Candidate’s Date Of Birth
- Candidates Parents Name
- Candidates Signature
- PAN No. which is a 10-digit alphanumeric unique code.
Through the PAN number, the Income Tax Department keeps track of all your transactions. For this, your PAN card is required, such as depositing more than Rs 50,000 in your bank account at a time, buying goods and services of more than Rs 2 lakh, etc.

How to Apply For PAN Card Online Step By Step with NSDL
Let me tell you that, if you are applying for a new PAN card, then you will have to fill out Form 49A or 49AA, depending on whether you are an Indian citizen.
Important Note- (This online PAN card can be made only when your Aadhar card is linked with your phone number.)
You can apply for a PAN card online through the following two sites:

Step 1: First, you have to visit the official website of NSDL.
Step 2: A New Page will be open, Select the Application Types- Indian Citizen (Form 49A). If you are a foreign national, select the new PAN- Foreign Citizen (49AA).
Step 3: Select the Category- INDIVIDUAL.
Step 4: Fill in all the required details like:
- Title- If you are male then select Shri, if you are a married female then you have to select Smt., if you are an unmarried female then you have to select Kumari.
- Last name/surname, First name, Middle Name.
- Date of Birth/Incorporation/Formation in DD/MM/YYYY format.
- Email ID.
- Mobile number.
- Captcha code.
Step 5: Click Submit option.
Step 6: After clicking on the submit button, a token number will be generated. You have to note down the generated token number. Click on the link to continue your PAN application.
Step 7: A new page will appear and it will show you three options: (A) Forward application documents physically (B) submit digitally through digital signature ‘Paperless’(C)Submit digitally through e-sign. If you want a PAN card digital then you have to select (Option-B) e-KYC.
Step 8: After selecting the option, enter your details like Aadhar card number, parent’s name, etc., and also click on the next option.
Step 9: In the Contacts & Others Details option, you have to select the Source of Income.
- Now, you have to fill in the Address for communication.
- You have to fill in the Residence Address.
- You have to fill in the address of the office Address.
Step 9: Fill in your telephone number & email id details.
Step 10: After filling in the details, you have to click on the next option.
Step 11: In the AO code option, you have to enter your area code, AO (Assessing Officer) type, range code, and AO number. Then click on Next.
Step 12: Select the documents Details you have submitted as proof of age and residence from the drop-down menu, fill in the required details, and then click on submit Option.
Step 13: Before you submit the application form, check the form thoroughly. If you do not want to make any changes, click on the “Proceed” button.
Step 14: Now, you will be redirected to the “payment” section, in which you have to make a payment through net banking/debit/credit card.
Note:- (You have to deposit Rs 115 for the PAN card application).
Step 15: After making the payment slip will be generated on your screen, now click on Continue.
Step 16: After continuing, for Aadhaar Authentication, tick on declaration and click on the “Authenticate” option.
Step 17: Now you have to click on “Continue with e-KYC”, and an OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar linked mobile number.
Step 18: Now, you have to enter the OTP, and then submit the form.
Step 19: Now, you click on “Continue with e-Sign”, and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. An OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Step 20: You enter the OTP, and submit the application along with the acknowledgment slip. The acknowledgment slip will be received in PDF.
Step 21: In this, the password will have to be entered in this format as your date of birth DDMMYYYY (23/05/1998).
How to Download PAN Card Online using the NSDL Portal?
There are two ways to download an e-PAN card from the official website of NSDL. In this, you have been told step by step to download through PAN Number and Acknowledgment Number.
1. Download the e-PAN Card through PAN Number
Step 1: Visit the Official Website of NSDL.

Step 3: Enter PAN and Aadhar numbers.
Step 4: Applicant’s date of birth.
Step 5: Add GSTN Number (if provided).

Step 7: Click on ‘Submit’ and enter the OTP which is sent to the registered email address or mobile number.
Step 8: Now, Download the e-PAN Card.
2. Download the e-PAN Card through Acknowledgment Number.
